about the writer.
I'm Anneka, but you can call me Ani.
I'm a writer from Vermont's Mad River Valley.
Aside from writing, I'm a climate scientist. My research explores how climate change is impacting high latitude and high altitude ecosystems and communities. I feel lucky that my work has taken me to far flung places, including the mountains of Chilean Patagonia, the Bhutanese Himalaya, the streets of Copenhagen, the trails of the French Alps, the Alaskan tundra, and the Andean paramo. Along the way, I write to try and capture the beautiful, heartbreaking, inspiring, enigmatic, and quirky stories hidden in our everyday lives and in the different corners of the world.
I love existing at the intersection of science and the arts. You can usually find me trail running, backcountry skiing, rock climbing, or woodworking as I plan my next creative pursuit.
